鮑氏對小說藝術捍衛的另一表現，在於他堅持認
為在創作中一以貫之的形式和風格必須隨著作品的主
題而發生改變的觀點。他不斷嘗試用新的敘事策略來
拓展創作主題。除了慣用並置的敘事手法外，他還使
用了文集式敘事手法(《幽靈在行動》)、套娃式敘事
手法(《衝破黑暗》)以及拼貼、元小說等後現代敘事

機結合，成功地實現了現實主義和後現代主義的融合
