抽像語義的認知方式一直是認知語言學關注的核心問題。抽像語義如何借助感知運動體驗以隱喻的方式構建，感知運動經驗在抽像語義加工中的作用如何？這些問題尚未得到明確回答。本書從具身認知視角出發，以時間—空間概念隱喻為切入點，采用心理實驗手段考察空間意像圖式在時間認知中的作用，借此探討時間—空間概念隱喻的認知機制及其對外語教學的啟示。本書的研究有助於揭示抽像語義的體驗認知基礎，解釋抽像語義“從哪裡來”“如何來”及“怎樣理解”的問題。
