《語言教學中的教材評估與設計(英文版)》:
The loci would include (1) language — the language of explanations, examples, texts, exercises and the language that students are expected to produce;(2) the contexts and content to which the language relates; and (3) procedures and classroom management— who does what with whom and how this is organised.As the detailed Commentary on this task indicates (see 'Tasks: Keys and Commentaries'), each of these can be illustrated with reference to the above examples.
In a fourth kind of change, restructuring (McDonough and Shaw 1993), components are reorganised.This might be motivated by the teacher's prioritisation of learners' needs or it might be an attempt to make the order 'more logical'.Restructuring in relation to a particular activity in order to build in variety or increase the degree of challenge is more of a procedural change(category 3, above).Examples of this would include re—sequencing activities such as cutting up a text and asking students to put it together again, presenting a picture story in jumbled order or creating a groupwork task in which each learner must describe their picture in order that the group can determine the original sequence.
5.4 Principles motivating change
The kinds of changes discussed above (and others not illustrated) are based on a number of principles.These have been described as follows:
Localisation: recognising the need for contextual relevance — 'what may work well in Mexico City may not do so in Edinburgh or in Kuala Lumpur' (McDonough and Shaw 1993: 87).
