本書旨在探究鄰避設施選址過程中居民態度和行為影響因素的實證研究。研究基於改進了的集體利益模型(CIM)，構建鄰避行為分析框架，采用問卷調查、參與式觀察和深度訪談的分階段混合研究方法，對鄰避衝突中居民心理及行為模式進行了繫統和全面的分析。全書分七章。本研究結果對於鄰避設施選址和解決當地群眾衝突兩方面的研究都有所貢獻，對於如何更好地解決衝突和制定政策都具有潛在意義。

隨著城市化進程的推進和公民權利意識的提高，鄰避問題在重大基礎設施建設過程中日益突出，已經成為世界各國公共生活中不可回避的議題。本書研究近年來香港發生的一繫列反對鄰避設施建設的案例，如反對建設垃圾焚化爐，反對擴建垃圾填埋場等，是旨在探究鄰避設施選址過程中居民態度和行為影響因素的實證研究成果。本研究基於改進了的集體利益模型(CIM)，構建鄰避行為分析框架，采用問卷調查、參與式觀察和深度訪談的分階段混合研究方法，對鄰避衝突中居民心理及行為模式進行了繫統和全面的分析，對理解鄰避情結和鄰避訴求具有重要意義，對於政府化解鄰避衝突和制定鄰避設施選址政策也具有重要的參考價值。
