本書是近年來北京林業大學中國-加拿大國家公園聯合實驗室的研究成果集,通過繫統探討國際及中國國家公園的理念實踐探索與綠色發展經驗,回顧梳理國家公園發展的成就與挑戰,為探索國家公園的中國化模式提供借鋻,有助於今後中國自然保護地體繫的建設。全書共計22章,分為中英文兩部分。英文部分以美國、加拿大、新西蘭等國的國家公園發展概述為導引,從政策實踐、預算財務、遺產保護、社區參與等處落筆,繪制了一幅異彩紛呈的國家公園畫卷;重點關注南亞、拉丁美洲、北美洲等地區的保護地及國家公園在實現生物多樣性保護、生態恢復治理以及參與生態旅遊方面取得的寶貴經驗。中文部分則從國家公園管理、國家公園建設、自然保護地綠色發展這三個角度出發,批判性地分析和比較了中外國家公園及自然保護地在社區管理、文化景觀管理、遊客監測、品牌增值等方面的相關概念、政策、法規和實踐。
