Simple preamble
吾年已不惑，陋習頗多，時常說話招人厭煩，行事讓人憎恨，預定好的計劃半途而廢，設置好的目標事與願違。為人處世的道理似乎都已明白， 並能口若懸河地教育他人，但是自己往往卻背道而馳，不加節制、不善敬畏，導致與社會與家庭不能和諧，工作和生活上不能順暢。
There is a saying in China that people will not be confused when they are 40 years old, which is my age now. However, I still have a lot of bad habits, for example, some people don't like what I say, they don't want to communicate with me deeply, and I do things that cause them to hate. The plans I set for myself often fall by the wayside, and the goals I set often fail to reach them. I seem to have understood the truth of being a person and doing things, and can educate others with eloquence, but I often do not abide by these principles. I am not good at controlling, not good at awing, they often cause me not to live in harmony with society and family, and not to be smooth and happy in work and life.
所以，人生需要總結提煉，讓自己全面地反思，通透地領悟，並形成文字，希望可以提醒自己，至少在迷茫糾結的時候可以從哲學層面自我開解。
Therefore, life needs to be summed up and refined, so that you can comprehensively reflect and understand, and organize them into words. I hope this can remind myself that I can enlighten myself on a philosophical level at least when I am confused and tangled.
吾兒年已十八，步入成人，不希望他如我一般經歷太多困擾，早點認識一些樸素道理以及實用的方法。在成長中再去實踐、去感悟、去升華。在他未來漫長而繁雜的人生道路上，讓這些道理和方法帶給他力量，帶給他溫暖。在他孤立無助的時候，有一處可以讓靈魂歇息的港灣。
18 years old and an independent adult. I don't want him to experience too many troubles like me, and I hope he can get to know some simple truths and practical methods sooner. And in the process of his growth, he will practice, comprehension, and sublimate. On his long and complicated life road in the future, let these principles and methods bring him strength and warmth. When he was alone and helpless, there was a haven for the soul to rest. 
於是，我們共同創作了這本小書，他媽媽也參與了校對，並提出了自己的建議，配上插圖，翻譯成英文。送親戚、送朋友、給讀者，就當是我們和大家一次真誠、質樸的交流吧。
So, we co-created this little book, his mother also participated in proofreading, and made her own suggestions, accompanied by illustrations, and translated into English. Sending relatives, friends, and readers should be regarded as a sincere and pure exchange between us and you.
書的原名叫《觀世微言》，後與朋友三人在中國深圳波托菲諾小聚，談及此舉，友人說，前人有《弟子規》，這本書可取名《與子書》，很適合天下父母子女閱讀借鋻，另外一位朋友當即拍案連連叫好。
The original name of the book was "A Little View on World ". Later, I had a small gathering with three friends in Portofino, Shenzhen, China, and talked about this matter. A friend said that there was a famous book "Student Regulation" in ancient China. This book can be called "A Book for Gentlemen", because it is also very suitable for parents and children all over the world to read and learn from. Another friend immediately applauded it.
聚會是在湖邊露天餐廳，當時已是黃昏時刻，天色漸暗，湖中有一小島，距離岸邊很近，島上樹木郁郁蔥蔥，談話間，突然島上數百喜鵲在樹林上空大聲追逐、鳴叫、嬉戲，甚是熱鬧，友人笑稱：“這是百鳥朝鳳啊”，遂堅定此書名。
The party was in an open-air restaurant by the lake. It was already dusk, and the sky was gradually darkening. There is a small island in the center of the lake, which is very close to the shore, and the island is lush with trees. While we were talking, hundreds of birds suddenly appeared on the island, chasing, chirping, and frolic over the woods, very lively. Friends laughed and said, "This is the scene of a hundred birds congratulate the phoenix." They are also congratulating the birth of this book! So I think it's a good name for the book.
《與子書》是一本與君子交流的書，一本贈與子女的書，也是世人、朋友給予我自己的一本書。書雖小，道理卻很樸素、適用；名雖簡，情意卻很真切、溫暖。
"A Book for Gentlemen" is a book for communicating with gentlemen, a book for children, and a book for myself from the world and my friends. Although the book is small, the principles are simple and applicable; although the name is simple, the affection is very real and warm.
